YOUR LONG-STAY EUROPE BASE... and/or a MOSEL VALLEY HOLIDAY!

Introduction and Image Gallery (scroll down)

Imagine a postcard-pretty place to live in Europe for a while, affordable and über-convenient to cafes, wine cellars, bike-paths and all corners of the Continent by road, rail, river and air?

My Europe Base in Zell an der Mosel is just that, offering delightful self-contained apartments of 3+ and 4 star standard. Long stays are ideal for travellers from Australia, NZ, the Americas and other far places, planning an extended stay in Europe. Short stays are also available from 2 nights.

My Europe Base is Australian owned: We know many Aussies and Kiwis dream about living a while in Europe but we found there was not much on offer that was convenient to low-cost flight hubs, attractive and affordable to rent by the month. After researching locations for scenery, character, ambiance, access to low-cost flights, rail, road, friendly locals, good food and wine, bike paths, hiking trails and so on, we found and purchased this delightful Zell apartment house in late 2009 to share the dream. My Europe Base is now also your pad to live the Continental life - and explore near and far, as you choose, at your own pace.

Advice for independent travel: On our explore far, explore near, destinations ex Hahn and London tips pages, we connect our guests with information to find their way independently and economically around Europe and UK: low-cost airlines; airport choices; regional rail/bus passes; long distance rail/bus deals; ferry cruises; our favourite hotel networks; car hire tips; ideas for short trips of 1-2-3+ days - and importantly, getting mobile internet organised for your laptop computer. We're ready to chat by phone or email and help you find what you're looking for. We can help you to stay flexible, plan as you go and save enough to stay twice as long!

Christmas and Winter in Europe: We're open year-round and offer our best rates over the winter months when Europe takes on a wonderful character. Sunny days in January can still reach 10 degrees and are nice for touring and easy hikes. Minus temperatures are not frequent and not too severe. Snowfalls are posssible at Zell and may take a few days to melt. It's a great time for visiting towns, cities and museums without the crowds. Cross-country skifields are within reach for one day outings. Downhill skiing is possible within 200 km and the Alps are within 400 kms. For Xmas Zell turns their old castle tower into a giant candle!

Apres-Ski: If you're skiing in Europe, how about a stay before or after on the Mosel to relax, mend the limbs, enjoy the wine and as we like to say “Live the Continental Life”? The nearby restorative warm spa waters of Bad Bertrich may be just what you need!

European River Cruise 'Extender': It's a shame to miss cruising the beautiful Mosel River on those Rhine-Main-Danube cruises and if you took one, you may not have had free time to explore the Rhine Gorges and their towns. From Zell that's easy to do by rail, bus and river ferries. There's also some wonderful navigable tributaries such as the Saar, Lahn and Neckar Rivers to investigate. So between the cruise and the flight home, why not extend your time and come and feel what it's like to LIVE on a European river, meet some friendly locals and enjoy their wine. While extending, you could even squeeze in a cheap Ryanair flight to Morocco (or anywhere else) and back from Hahn Airport!

Altogether, My Europe Base is delighted to offer a new and contemporary way to do Europe – and we hope you too can enjoy our wonderful project!
